for one person on their own... or up to eight people
Starting from Truro... but we can start at your hotel/B&B from anywhere in Cornwall... we go to St Agnes Head (spectacular panoramic views of the North Cornish Coast). We then travel down the coast calling at Chapel Porth, Portreath, Godrevy Lighthouse (the lighthouse which featured in both a Rosamunde Pilcher and a Virginia Woolf novel), heading for St Michael's Mount in time for their 10:30 opening (visit St Michael's Mount/National Trust... visiting times vary).
Dominating Mounts Bay, St Michael’s Mount rises majestically almost 230 feet from sea level to the tower, chapel and battlement of the castle. Situated approximately 500 yards offshore the Mount is reached either by causeway at low tide or by small ferry boats which ply between Marazion and the Mount's harbour. The grandeur and wealth of history of St Michael’s Mount, with its fairy tale castle, make it a unique attraction in Cornwall and one of Cornwall's premier visits.
Allow between 1.5 and 2.5 hours at St Michael's Mount
For lunch we have several options.
OPTION ONE: Eat at St Michael's Mount.
OPTION TWO: Eat in Penzance... lots of choices!
OPTION THREE: Eat at the Tolcarne Inn at Newlyn... Cornwall's biggest fishing port. Good fish, great welcome!
Our second house today is Godolphin which is twixt Penzance and Helston.
Godolphin House was started in 1475 and was the home of the Godolphin family until the middle of the 18th century.
The Godolphins, made their fortune from the local tin-mining industry, becoming one of the leading families of West Cornwall.
This house is very much a "work-in-progress" restoration project.
It is privately owned and the owners are lovingly and intelligently restoring it using original materials and techniques taking advice from England's leading experts in each discipline. We think you'll enjoy it!
(Visit a website for Godolphin House - visiting times vary)
Allow between 1.5 and 3 hours at Godolphin House.
If time, energy and enthusiasm allow, return to Truro (or where you are staying) via the Helford River, Falmouth, Pendennis Castle, and the River Fal (to complete your sight seeing for the day!)
If other Cornish Gardens have more appeal, just let us know and these will be the ones we visit.
And if you'd just like to go to just one Cornish Garden - say The Eden project - we'll provide a PRICE QUOTATION FOR TRANSPORT FROM AND BACK TO YOUR HOTEL/B&B
- ON REQUEST.
